LIONHEAD STUDIOS

If you enjoy playing video games, then you are probably familiar series such as Black & White and Fable. These games have been created within the walls of the British studio Lionhead Studios, founded by famed game designer Peter Molyneux. The latter, by the way, has created such outstanding works as the Syndicate, Populous, Dungeon Keeper and Theme Hospital. In 2006, it acquired the studio, Microsoft, but six years later Molyneux leaves wall Redmond company to pursue solo career. Now Microsoft and Lionhead Studios closes turns her current projects.

Not that the part of Microsoft closing studios was something new. Not at all. This practice is found in the work of any big publisher, which owns numerous studios and IP. For example, Microsoft has closed at the time such acquired its studio as ACES (Microsoft Flight Simulator, Combat Flight Simulator), Ensemble Studios (Age of Empires, Halo Wars), FASA Studio (MechWarrior, Shadowrun), and others. Simultaneously with the closing of Lionhead Studios, Microsoft has closed and a small Danish studio Press Play, famous games Max & the Magic Marker and Kalimba.

In the world of big business is no time for pity, because if something brings you a loss, it is better to get rid of it quickly. The most amazing thing in the closure of the studio Lionhead that with it has sunk into oblivion and the game Fable Legends, which was supposed to go to a game console Xbox One and PC in the current 2016 year. Not long ago, the players became available its network beta version, in which four of the positive characters had to fight against the villain, which is also one of the players. Apparently, something went wrong, and not enough people appreciated the work of the once popular studio. How else can one explain such a drastic action on the part of Microsoft?

Well, sooner or later it ends. Peter Molyneux is now working on himself and his studio, which in recent years has had a very hard time, finally went into oblivion. Perhaps it correctly. After Lionhead Studios in 2010, did not release anything more or less attractive (the projects for Kinect and remastered - does not count). Well, remember the past achievements of the studio, and replay in Black & White and Fable. It is a pity that now we will not see the continuation of this remarkable series.
